2/17/2023 0 Comments Windows 10 miracast not workingMiracast is a pain in the ass to get working. I'm wondering if Miracast on the Windows 8.1 does not work when the computer is on a "domain"? I've turned off Windows Firewall and tried many other things but no luck. When I try connect to that wireless display called it attempts to connect but then times out. In Device Manager, a miracast display device appears for the Roku. It then detects the Roku and allows me to add it as a wireless display. No, I'm not trying to connect my SP2 Pro wifi to the WiFi Direct connection to Roku presents, instead, to make the connection, I go to Charms -> Devices -> Project -> Add a wireless display. The device (in my case Surface Pro 2 running Windows 8.1) makes a direct wifi connection to the Roku. It has nothing to do with your local WiFi network (I just added the "tested on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz" to stop people (who don't understand how Miracast works) from asking if I've done it). Sorry I think I've confused everyone with my post. If after you update or upgrade Windows 10 to a newer build or version, you notice that MIracast is no longer working, as in you’re unable to cast to devices, then you can try the solutions presented in this post to resolve the issue. I had no problem connecting and mirroring with my Samsung Galaxy S3 in this way. You need to enable screen mirroring on your compatible device, at which point it can scan for devices, and if both the tablet and Roku are currently attached to the same network, identify your Roku 3 as available for connect. That won't work and is not how to utilize the miracast feature. It sounds as though you are trying to connect your tablet to the WiFi direct network used by the Roku 3 remote.
